On a grey, rainy day, we had a fun time aboard the boat as we sailed out onto Lake Taupo and round to the Rock carvings. They are not very old, but are quite interesting. We got to see some trout fishing off the back of the boat and the muffins and hot drinks were a welcome addition. Good commentary from the skipper.

Loved the cruise on the Cat. Skipper was very knowledgeable and we were lucky we had a beautiful sunny day. The muffins and hot coffee or tea was excellent also. Highly recommended if your in Taupo and you get some great photos of Mt Ruapehu in the background

My husband and I booked Maori Rock Carvings Boat Tour and had a wonderful time. Our initial booking was cancelled due to weather, but Nicole contacted us a couple of days before the tour and offered a couple of different options – before and after our initial booking which was wonderful. The tour itself was great. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, especially the captain. She was absolutely wonderful and made the experience even better with her knowledge and jokes. The Maori carvings were amazing. During the tour, we also got hot blueberry muffins which were so delicious. Overall, everything was amazing, and we highly recommend it if you are in Lake Taupo.

Had an amazing time visiting the rock carvings our captain was very knowledgeable and engaging, Our kids are energetic to say the least and the hostess noticed they were loosing intrest and called them over and sent them on a treasure hunt around the boat giving me and my partner time to really enjoy the cruise. Sometimes something like this can make all the difference and we definitely appreciated the effort.

Parking is absolutely abundant and free. Nearby coffee shop, public toilets and seating made the pre-boarding comfortable. You could chose to be under cover or sit above deck. We felt safe and comfortable at all times with plenty of interesting narratives about the lake and surroundings on the way to the Rock Carvings. This obviously wasn’t their first rodeo as they were super accommodating to their passengers as tourists by maneuvering the boat to allow for plenty of photos and selfies before heading back to the marina.Hot chocolate and a baked muffin was served also and both delicious!

Perfect example of Kiwi hospitality! We took a scenic cruise on Lake Taupō as a group of 10, from primary age to seniors. From the beginning, we were treated with big smiles, friendly welcomes and the kind of service where nothing was a problem. I've missed this over the past couple of years thanks to covid, so it's great to see that it's still around. Our kids were offered colouring-in sheets and pencils which were welcomed, not to mention that the sheets were informative as they featured the image of a trout, and an educational list of what to do and not do when fishing for trout. Great to see!We were able to help ourselves to bottomless hot drinks, plus there was a small selection of other goodies available for purchase. Morning tea was served on board - the crew brought around freshly baked muffins, baked on board the catamaran! It sure beats being offered preservative-riddled, plastic-wrapped versions you can get elsewhere. We also lucked out on the weather, with perfect conditions for sailing and sight-seeing at Wharewaka and the Māori carvings. The water was an amazing emerald-green colour. All the guests were in good spirits and seemed to be enjoying their experience.Well done Chris Jolly Outdoors - I'll definitely recommend you to friends and family!

A great scenic tour of the late Taupo and Māori rock carving. The team that runs the tour were fun, informative and engaging to the tour participants. There’s coffee, refreshments and muffins available during the duration of the tour. I recommend seating at the upper deck, back part of the boat where you could have a great view of the lake without any obstructions. You’re free to move around the boat as the tour guide will point out some interesting sights as you move along. The guide will allow you to try maneuvering the boat but with their instructions and supervision. My husband and I were happy and gained knowledge about the majestic lake Taupo’s significance and importance as well as the danger that comes with it! Thank you very much for the amazing experience!
