Simon Darby - Wanaka Photography

My husband and I were so happy with our wedding photos and were so glad we chose to work with Simon. We were exceptionally impressed at what a huge day he worked and how much he captured – it sure makes for amazing memories!Simon was there in the morning from about 9am to capture all the stages of preparation right through until the dancing after reception - probably 13+ hour day. My sister has worked as a wedding planner and attended dozens of weddings and never known a photographer to stay for as long a duration as Simon did. It was above and beyond.We found his easy going nature made us both feel very relaxed; which I also think shows through in our photos. Plus of course the photos themselves were absolutely stunning! The colours look amazing, and we were both impressed at the fact he managed to capture both people inside and view outside Rippon Hall, which I’m sure can’t be easy.Simon was a key part in our day being just perfect, and his photos are the best way to remember just how amazing it was.

Simon was wonderful to work with. We traveled from the US for our elopement/wedding, and I was a little nervous not knowing a lot about our photographer. However, that was a complete waste of worrying because Simon did an amazing job.Simon perfectly captured our intimate moments as well as all the expansive shots with scenery that we were looking for. He even improvised with some Lord of the Rings books(that we’re hiding on a bookshelf at our B&B) to get our absolute favorite wedding shot! And to go above and beyond he recommended we hike the Rob Roy glacier track which turned out to be one of our favorite days in New Zealand. Thanks Simon!

Where do I even start?...Simon Darby is an EXTREMELY talented photographer, artist and person. Not only did he capture our wedding day but he captured the raw emotions of such joy and excitement that was had throughout the entire day. He captured beautiful moments of our friends and family, the beautiful place that New Zealand is and he has given us our wedding day to now be able to remember forever.It rained on our wedding day and we were slightly worried how it may affect the photography but one thing is for sure, Simon wasn't!As your photographer he was confident, he was fun he made everything feel natural and that worry we had slipped right away.I would defiantly recommend getting married on a rainy day = BEAUTIFUL!!!!Simon, we thankyou every time we look at our photographs.Only problem is we cant decide which ones to hang and I don't think our house is big enough to hang 500 to show off.

I would rate 10 stars if that were an option. Simon absolutely nailed our wedding photos. He perfectly captured our day in such a wonderfully candid way. We could not have asked for better photos of our day and a more helpful photographer. I 10000% highly recommend Simon. We had the best time and Simon made us so comfortable with the camera so quickly, it made a huge difference and felt like just having another friend along.We absolutely love the photos so far and it absolutely captures everything we could have hoped for, especially capturing the magic of the place that we can share with our guests that we weren't able to have along.

We couldn't have asked for better - we LOVE our wedding photos!! Simon was so easy to work with, found us some great spots, was thoughtful in his approach - very talented photographer. He was there for the whole day and we loved reliving the it all through our photos - the emotions shine through!! We got more photos that we know what to do with and they are all fantastic!!We also had a post wedding heli shoot done, Simon was really flexible as weather wasn't playing suit and it paid off - the photos are incredible.We know who we'll be using in the future!!

We had Simon booked in for our wedding but due to multiple postponements because of the pandemic our dates didn't align to be able to use him again.Simon was incredible throughout the process though in providing a new recommendation and in all our dealings with him we couldn't recommend him enough.
