Sounds By Sail

We had an afternoon out on Kenepuru Sound with Phil and had a great time! We loved the mussels and the local wine. Definitely recommend a trip with Sounds by Sail

Phil took us out for an amazing afternoon sail. He is very knowledgeable, and as a very experienced skipper he is calm and in full control. I really enjoyed being able to be at the helm for long periods of time, while he handled the sails. We anchored in a lovely sheltered bay for snorkeling, and enjoying mussels and a glass of wine in the roomy cockpit. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip!

We had the best experience seeing the Kenepuru Sounds with Sounds by Sail. We did the overnight experience which was very worthwhile. Phil showed us a lot of great spots in the sounds, took us for a swim and showed us mussel farms. Deb made us an amazing dinner and snacks. It was an unforgettable experience and a beautiful way of seeing the sounds! I highly recommend to anyone! Thanks so much for having us

We had an amazing experience seeing the Kenepuru Sounds with Phil and Deb! The sailboat is a perfect size for a day of sailing and impeccably clean and well maintained. We did a full day sail, which I would recommend. We stopped for a short break to hike up to an overlook, which was amazing, then had a wonderful lunch together on the boat. We are both vegetarians, and our hosts were able to easily accommodate us. After lunch, we sailed around the Sounds for several hours enjoying the water, the wind, and the beautiful scenery before we returned to Hopewell Lodge. We would highly recommend this experience!! It’s an excellent value compared to what most other companies charge for private day sailing, and the hosts are super friendly. They will do anything to make your experience memorable and comfortable! It’s definitely one thing that you must “check off” your list while visiting the Sounds, and was one of the highlights of our travels around New Zealand!

Awesome afternoon of sailing and great food

Phil and Deb are the perfect hosts with their passion for sailing and wealth of knowledge of the sounds. We loved getting out on the water and it was the perfect surprise for my partner for our anniversary as he is an avid sailor.If you want to explore the Marlborough Sounds a bit differently this is definitely the way to go!
