Castaways Restaurant & Bar
Amazing views overlooking the location and friendly service. Our dinner took 1.5 hours to arrive because there was a new chef, but the staff were very attentive and gave us blankets to sit outside with. It was a still night with a beautiful sunset so we had a lovely time.

It has an excellent view of the sea and sunset over the ocean.You can sit inside or outside have drinks.Price isn't costly like most of us would expect due to its locations.Toilets are clean; staff are friendly and overall we always have a good experience.

Wow a lovely surprise last night for dinner. Everything we had between five of us was delicious. The waitress was delightful the waiter might need a little training hence the four stars. Whoever the Chef was last night please keep them they are amazing

Castaways Restaurant & Bar
We were driving from Auckland to Rotorua and wanted to visit a black sand beach. We detoured to Karioitahi Beach and spent an hour on that magnificent beach. Afterwards, we were famished and drove up the hill to Castaways Resort.Lunch in the restaurant was just what we needed. The waitress was very attentive. The chef fixed a special pizza for the girls and a to order burger for our daughter.My wife even commented that the decor in the restroom coordinated with the outdoors.The restaurant also has a great view of that magical beach.Gary Hyde is the General Manager of the Castaways Resort and was a great help with our visit. He even dropped in during our lunch to greet us.We’ll be back on our next trip to New Zealand.

Good meal nicely presented .Fine dining restaurant . Happy with meal. Young inexperienced staff who need some educationFour of them stood behind the bar on our arrival and after we waited we had to gain their attention for some serviceMostly good but could do with some improvement.Will return thanks.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this place. Very limited lunch menu. I ordered the burger and chips. My chips were not hot and even my burger was only just warm. Around $50 for a margarita cocktail and burger. Even the cocktail was average. They standard make a skinny margarita? Never heard of it. I want a margarita to just be a margarita. Wait staff were really friendly though so I wish I was able to give better feedback

The food was really high quality and the service even better. A side of potatoes was a good choice as the mains were mostly just the meat with very little vegetables. Starter chowder was fresh, hot and delicious. Slightly overpriced but appropriate for the location and quality. Would recommend using an Entertainment Voucher to make it an all round perfect evening.

Castaways, located near land’s end deep past Waiuku. Decided to pop in here (using an entertainment voucher) during a house-sit in Waiuku and the food was amazing.The salmon was very well done, lightly cooked so it wasn’t dry all. The lamb shank was incredibly deliciously seasoned and cooked the perfection. The pecan dessert was quite unique, made into a meatball style.

Popped in for lunch and dinner while staying here. Staff are kind and patient while we made mistakes and wondered where to sit. Daily quiet while here. Food was of good quality and the servings were enough if not plentiful. Had vegetarian options. Chocolate mousse was fantastic.

Such a shame what has happened to this place, as a regular vendor here for weddings I constantly hear complaints from people around food and service. We experienced it for ourselves when we stayed a couple of months ago, worst food I've had at a restaurant in a long time and the staff are so incredibly rude and clearly have no training. This place is going down the toilet. I complained, still waiting on a call from the manager 2 months later zzzzzz. Breakfast was included and we didn't even stay for it. As regular travelers we never miss Breakfast, that's how bad our dinner was
