Absolutely brilliant experience. We brought five children, varying ages and little to no experience with horses. The children had a great time, and built up a lot of confidence by the end. A massive thanks to the team, and I would recommend Hare Hill Horse Treks for a unique experience.

We had the pleasure of taking an alpine trail ride with both Oliver and Laura. By far and most the highlight of our trip to Dunedin. Not only for the wonderous views of the inner port, and surrounding mountains but also for the local history and knowledge that Oliver imparted whilst we rode. This is an excellent adventure for children, even with little to no experience of horse riding. All their horses are the most friendly beautiful animals.Especially Jack.Truly a memorable adventure and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience genuine hospitality and such beautiful scenery.Thank you again to all at hare hill.

Really disappointing. Reviewed website, checked availability and chose a basic ride with available places advertised. Phoned to negotiate cash payment which was not accommodated and when discussing time slot preference was told there were no available slots as horse riding lessons were on at the same time so not able to proceed as Oliver could not be in two places at once. Not a great way to encourage local patronagelocal patronage

Beautiful experience. All the staff was really fun and loved horses. They really cared about them and us too. We've got good talks while having a look on the best scenery. We also helped with the hey which was fun. Being surrounded with free living horses is always good and the trek was a nice experience as well. Going up and down hill was very exciting! The only thing I have to admit is, that experienced riders would probably expect more - for example going a bit faster. But well, we had fun so... Thanks team!

Coming from the UK, I had no idea of where I could go horse riding in NZ. Luckily for me a tourist information centre in Picton, gave me a leaflet. I promptly rang and booked with Oli, the owner. He couldn’t have been more helpful. He picked me up from the port at Dunedin. I went for a 2 hour ride. Beautiful scenery and weather, a fabulous horse and the company of Cheryl. A very relaxing time. Thank you so much. It made my holiday. Best wishes

I did pony club as a young teen and still adore horse riding. I jump at any chance to get close to a horse, even when travelling. I rode a horse up Mount Vesuvius once! Because I used to live in Port Chalmers, I would often do lessons with Oliver Goldsmith from Hare Hill Horse Trekking. We’d take a ride on Aramoana Beach or up one of the hills of his property. Oliver has been around for a while now. My favourite horse is Mac, who is Oliver’s special horse. Mac even featured in my music video, Preservation. Nadia Reid - Art & Culture Expert

Great experience, loved every moment of it! The hosts were very nice and hospitable, they were very friendly and talkative. The horses were very calm and well looked after, they even joined us in the picnic! We did the hill ride, and the view was amazing. Definitely recommend if you are staying in Dunedin for a few days.

Great experience with 2 kids. Oliver and his team made everything to make our experience unforgettable. Weather was also perfect, which helped a lot. beautiful spot. Would have done the beach walk if we would have more time... Not to miss in Dunedin!

Daughter and I always try to find a horse riding experience when we go on holiday and cane across Hare Hill in Dunners. To be fair, I can’t fault the horses and the experience of our guide but I think they should take the on line screening process a little more seriously. My daughter has been for professional riding classes for 3 years and I’ve ridden horses most of my life since I was 5, being led along the beach front for almost 2 hours without being able to canter was a let down for us. A quick interview on arrival to establish if we know anything about horses or how long we’ve been riding would be a help then we can enjoy the experience we paid for. Also, the guide needs to be on her own horse and not be walking for the whole time. Not very “user friendly”. Sorry, but there is improvement needed.

My daughters and I enjoyed our farmland trek among the sheep and lambs, paradise ducks and donkeys with stunning harbour views. We felt so well looked after by the team and their lovely horses. I would definitely recommend the experience!
