The Dark Horse
It used to be dog-friendly but not any more. Not sure if there is anything else changed. We used to like going there and enjoy the steaks. I’m not sure if I’ll go back and try.

The staff were great, fast and efficient service.The food was delicious, reasonably priced and very generous servings. Highly recommend the ribs and the mixed grill.

Decent food and good size portions. The steak fries are a little underwhelming and food can take a while to arrive. Not much parking available and need to order food at counter. The stone grill food options are pretty cool.

Surprisingly good pub food. We were in Auckland down from the North and we hadn't eaten all day.I saw the sign which said Bar and Grill and thought that it couldn't be too bad. It was surprisingly good food. It is a bar, so no ambience unless you like that, but the food was really good.I had a hamburger and chips. The hamburger was huge! The meat was very good. My husband had venison sliders which he loved. We also enjoyed a pint of cider.All in all a good place to grab lunch or dinner.

Staff are extremely friendly and the service has always been second to none. Whenever there is an issue (which isnt often) it is sorted instantly, apologetically and with the minimum of fuss. Great food and atmosphere at an extremely good price point.

It has gone downhill since we last visited 3 weeks ago. The staff used to be really friendly and attentive. All we got today was a surly attitude from the bar staff, especially when I asked for my short measure pint to be topped up. Shame as it used to be a regular haunt. Won't be rushing back anytime soon.

For a pub the food here is 10/10 have tried almost everything off the menu and not one dish was disappointing. Big portions and good price. Always fresh and delicious. Great spot to watch sports and have a drink. Even during busy times like UFC staff are always very efficient.

It was just what we were looking for. Hearty pub food. A good selection. Maybe a chicken salad on the menu would be great. Good parking. Friendly staff.

First visit here. Hopeless table service, had to order at the bar. However the food certainly made up for it, it was delicious and the meals were very large. Entree calamari was easily a main meal size. Spicy crumbed chicken Burger was also massive with 2 breasts, huge onion rings and bacon etc. I couldn't finish my meal. Super full. Def would visit again.
