Smith & Smith New Plymouth

Very very disappointed in smith and smith new plymouth. In December I went to collect a vehicle and he informed me I had to pay for new wipers arms. I asked him twice are you sure as my husband is a mechanic and would do this himself. Soon after I paid the money he gave me the wrong vehicle keys. I said to him no that's not my car. He then said I can't do a refund someone will get hold of you from Auckland. I was very annoyed as it was Christmas time and $70 is a bit of money. I have called the head office, which they first knew nothing about it ( lucky I kept the receipt) now finally got somewhere and have been waiting 2 weeks for refund. I think this is appalling service from both ends.Would not recommend

Let me book a truck in for a windscreen replacement for the 27th of May, turn up with the vehicle and get told that the no longer repair big trucks! They had done several for us in the past, had the glass in the branch ready to fit, you'd think the branch manager would've seen a big truck windscreen arrive, put 2 and 2 together and call us but no. I find another company who can fit truck windscreens and arrange via s & s useless call center to have the glass transferred to this other company. It doesn't turn up so I rang again to ask when it's going to be delivered and got told that they had changed their minds and would no longer deliver. Absolutely hopeless, do not use these guys.

Local guys were great. Pity about the people who do the bookings in head office.... they booked me in without a replacement windshield available in-store.Excellent job done when 1 arrived though. Thx to local guys for a fast, efficient job well done

Dropped car off 10am picked it up 6pm fab job had new wipers installed..receptionist is on point..nga mihi

Don't usually place feedback but since Smith n Smiths reviews are so poor, so poor that I didn't go see them first, First I saw Taranaki windscreen who said windscreen must had been fixed before as resin will not stick, so need a whole new windscreen. Thought I'd try Smith n Smith for a 2nd opinion. So went in without a booking as that's what web page said to do. Smith n Smith took me straight in, fixed the stone chip and I was on my way within 3/4 hr.

We have used S&S Glass for years now in NP so very disappointed in the recent service. My partner took a day off work (self employed) to get a new windscreen installed. Booking etc ok, but did take three weeks to get a space - is this due to lack of windscreens or lack of staff at S&S? Seems a lot of complaints about getting appointments. Anyway, chalked it up to COVID delays. Got great texts to remind us to turn up. So he did, to find the new windscreen must have been dropped or something and was unusable. They offered to install it (with a chip that could crack??) but he declined the offer. Have to wait weeks again to get a new one in, take another day off work ($2-3K lost again). They can't come out to his worksite to replace it either. Not good enough. Doesn't anyone check the stock the day before to check it is ok before a customer comes in? We could have rescheduled instead of losing money. Not impressed. Not returning. Looking now at other reviews I will be using another locally based business instead as we can't afford to lose revenue because S&S aren't customer focused.

I booked Smith and Smith to do an insurance replacement on my windscreen. The staff at the New Plymouth branch were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. What let them down was their procurement division who ordered the wrong windscreen twice. It wasn’t the fault of the NPL team though, who took great pains to leave the proper notes for the purchasing team. I eventually got my windscreen sorted and the fit and finish was oem. I couldn’t tell that a repair had taken place. Overall, I was very happy with their service.

After being given the run around through their 0800 number, decided to call into their office. The staff were lovely and helpful. Even when dealing with unexpected changes. The job was done very quickly. Thank you New Plymouth branch. Would have been 5 stars ✨ if the silly woman at the 0800 number hadn't been so rude.
