North Shore Airport

The Ardmore of the North - first came here to fly model aircraft 30 plus years ago when aircraft movements were infrequent. Not now! several commercial charter schools and historic aircraft use the air field. Will only get busier as more housing and commercial development continues in Silverdale and surrounding area.

Nice quiet airport surroundings. Bustling with airplane & helicopter flights. Lovely deck area to watch flight taking off, landing & push plane for refuelling. Book a flight depending pilot experience with the lovely & polite receptionist. Over 30 car park.

Inconsiderate pilots who care nothing about other people. Get your training from better pilots. Maybe Ardmore.

It's a small airfield. A good place for flying lessons or a scenic flight

Parked up outside on a Saturday afternoon and watched the small planes landing one after another. Kids loved it

Love this airport, took a flight to Kerikeri from here. I would recommend that people try this small airports and support small businesses, you get to fly at low altitudes and see parts of New Zealand you won’t normally see. The airport itself is cool, close proximity to runway so good viewing too

Kids (and Dad) had a great day at the open day! Very entertaining with lots to see. Maybe need a few more food stalls but otherwise was awesome!

North Shore Airport is a small regional airport located 30KM North of Auckland CBD, mainly involved with flight training. Just under an hour's drive from Auckland downtown, it lies between the suburbs of Albany and Silverdale on the Postman Rd accessed either by Dairy Flat highway (31) or East Coast Road (25).North Shore Airport is owned by the North Shore Aero Club which was formed in 1963. Since the first flights took place at the current site in the late 1950’s, North Shore Airport is a popular pilot training institution of the country. It provides training for recreational and commercial qualifications. North Shore Helicopter Training located next door, provides helicopter pilot training.This small airport with limited passenger facilities offers scheduled services to Great Barrier Island provided by Barrier Air, chartered scenic flights and flying lessons. Flight time from North Shore to Great Barrier Island is approximately 20 to 25 minutes.The airport has two runways. A sealed 03/21 vector and a gravel 09/27, both runways have grass either side also available for landing.The airport is also home to the Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) rescue helicopter. This helicopter operates outside the normal hours of operation for rescue purposes.
