Nice 2 hour walk, for me a non walker. You can do a loop if you want. Lots of steps up a hill in a nice setting.

Manawatu Gorge Track Car Park
At the end of the road to nowhere now the Gorge is closed is an interesting place to park the car and watch cranes doing their daily work. The new road is being formed with a bridge over the river taking shape. There are tracks for those who like to ramble and some nice nature photos can be taken. Weeds are taking over sections that used to have heavy traffic. A sign board gives some history and background to the environment.

Carpark closed for 6 months at least while they relocate the new roadway for the new bridge.

Great we walk..sometimes a hill run in the Ashhurst/palmy area.Track can be slippery in winter. Good bird life..tui/bellbird/kereruNo dogs, but people do take them anyway. I would say to keep it on a lead as there is poison laid, and your friendly dog" can still get a fright when a runner suddenly appears."

Great hike. Construction is annoyingly loud at the entrance, but once your around the corner it's nice and quiet. Track is reasonably maintained. Definitely worth doing. I would take kids there.
