Doug did repairs to my old Mountain bike which was in a very sorry state. He’s replaced the gearing, chain and bottom and bottom crank, she’s a delight to use again.Thanks for the fantastic service, I’d recommend this business to any bike users.

Riding through town with a creaky bottom bracket on the recent Great Southern Brevet bikepacking event, Black Peak was the second bike shop I consulted. Super helpful in diagnosing the problem, having the bearings required and replacing them on a busy afternoon for them, I cannot recommend highly enough - got my ride back on track and enabled me to complete the ride. Fantastic.

Just called in without any notice. Problem with rear wheel. Doug looked at it immediately and sorted it for us. Excellent guy, very knowledgeable. 100% recommend.

This is an excellent bike shop and mechanic in Wanaka. Great, friendly service and always seems happy to go the extra mile helping out with an issue or taking time to offer advice. The mechanic service is second to none too: the bike tends to come back feeling better than new. Highly recommended.

Doug is an amazing guy! He fixed our bike, helped fixing our car (no joke!) and even let me do a ride on a gravel bike. Customer service beyond expectations!

Rocked up to see if Doug could fit in some urgent repairs over the busy January period.  He ordered some parts right away and had everything sorted in one day, which was great as I was travelling though and didn’t want to spend a week waiting for parts.  If you are serious about looking after your bike then Doug is the type of mechanic you want, he fixed the problem I had asked about, and also fixed a bunch of other issues.  When I picked up the bike, he explained what he’d done and said he’d put anything back that I didn’t like.  It was all spot on and he messaged me a week later to ask how my Old Ghost road ride had gone.  Top service!

Took my wife's bike in for gearing issues and my own bike which was making noises in the headset and somewhere near the pedals/bottom bracket. After $500+ I had to re-index my wife's gears which were the worst I've ever seen after coming out of a workshop. I also had to return my bike as there were still creaking issues. After a further $200+ the newly installed headset started making more noise than ever. Not happy with quality or value-for-money. I wouldn't take bikes back for further remedy as I'd be afraid to pay even more money.Response to the owner:Admittedly the bikes have been ridden hard but after $500+ on one bike and two attempts at it I'd expect a bike that sounded better (if not optimal) and not worse than when I took it in. Not indexing the gears on the other bike after cable replacement is inexcusable after $200+.
