Absolutely great to relax and enjoy. Your dog will enjoy too. Spend an hour in the sea swimming to cool in this hot summer. It has many bbq spots, picnic tables and rubbish bins around. Very clean public toilets with changing room. A walk around to read historic displays. You can take the stairs or the road ramps to the small beach. Around the corner is the ferry ramp and wharf if you wish to go fishing. I recommend you to see this place when it's high tide. There's also bus stop if you do not have a car. You can park your car down the slope of a hill or where there is car parking. Don't just drive past because you cannot see behind the curtains of green trees.

We've always enjoyed taking a breather at Larking's Landing. Plenty of seating in the shade to take in the views out towards Fabric Bay, Scotts Landing and the distant Waitakere Ranges, or to watch the changing tide gently turn the boats moored in the channel. Its a perfect place to watch kingfishers perched on rocks ready to snap up their next meal.Frank Larkings' boat is permanently moored" for children to play on and there is also a public BBQ site. There's an outdoor shower and until recently a makeshift swing suspended from a tree near the boat ramp. The stairs from Hilder's Park are currently closed (possibly storm damage) and the usually well-maintained grass in the park near the bus stop is unkempt. There is however another walkway down past the bus stop and toilets that leads to the beach."
