A beautiful way to spend a day.I had taken this ferry return to take a day bike over at Days Bay, with the helpful and insightful staff aboard I had no problems on boarding. The licensed bar is also a extra plus!

Across Wellington harbour from Queen's Wharf to Day's Bay via Matiu-Somes island (conservation reserve). Bicycles carried at no extra charge. The larger of the two ferries, Ika Rere, is electric and a very smooth journey.

They provide a great service that not only gets you across and around Wellington Harbour, but also delivers to Matiu/Somes Island. The ferries are comforable with both undercover seating and an outdoor viewing area on the upper deck. Awesome on a sunny Wellington day. As well as delivering us safely to our destination, we also saw dolphins playing in the harbour. The main city terminal is easy to find right on thr edge of the CBD. Lots of fun, great service and even free off peak if you are a gold card holder. Highly recommend you check it out!!

Lovely experience on the new electric ferry. It's a much quieter journey than I expected. The way over to wellington was calm and easy sailing. The way home was via the Island and a little more bumpy ride. Nothing scary, just better to stay sitting for it. Both were enjoyable in their own way. I would recommend going one way on the trip where they stop at the Island. The view is awesome. This is well worth the $12 return ticket.

We wanted a short tourist outing so bought return tickets for Days Bay. Great value. Seeing Wellington from the water was great - beautiful city. The staff were all really friendly. The ferry was comfortable. Would recommend.

Great fun & enjoyment on a sunny day with little or no wind. Days Bay return - Adult $22, student $18 & child $12 or buy one get one free with the entertainment book. Watch out for penguins on the way. Some ferries go via Matiu Somes Island

Great service and beautiful view of the city skyline. Wasn't the best day to be out on the water but crew were very professional. A great day out for the family.

We took ferry on Saturday morning to visit Matiu/Somes Island. We absolutely enjoyed our ride. Convenient and inexpensive way enjoy city views from water. We purchased our tickets from counter for return trip costing $25 PP. It was quick to get tickets as there was no queue. There was no need to book in advance unless it a large group.Boarding started 10 minutes before departure, and we took upper deck for good views.Ferry have a small café/bar where you can get some snacks, coffee, beer etc. It also have separate washrooms. You can check timetable online or at office.Staff was friendly and warm.Overall, a pleasant ride with amazing views.
