Wow, this place is fantastic - best combo of old school and nice new-fangled menu items as well. Chips are delicious - the main criteria obviously - fish are nice and crisp, the burgers all sound divine and the desserts look amazing. Already yearning to go back and try more stuff. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area (and if you live here, I envy you!)

Not often do you get an awesome batch of cooked under-done chips in the Manawatu. Reminds me of my childhood when all takeaways used to cook like this. Couldn’t recommend Grumpys more! Steak wraps are also divine just forgot to take a photo of it like I did the fish and chips.

We really like Mr Grumpy and order takeaways every time we go to Foxton, at least once a month. Today we ordered some foods, but we are not happy with the burgers. The bread was burnt, even the sauce cannot hide the burnt taste. Very disappointed.

The snapper & potato fritters were yummy - crispy batter & very fresh. Seemed to be very popular with locals which proved to be a very good recommendation. One of the best fish & chips shops we’ve been too & have travelled a lot around NZ. A+

Good food and very lovely staff not at all grumpy.Clean premises and clean oil.Blood and guts chips are great.Lots of different little nibbles eg. Crumbed prawn cutlet.Even serves dessert, cheesecake in the fridge.It's a busy little place but it's easy to see why.It's worth the wait if that what you have to do

This is my first time ever leaving a review, I was incredibly disappointed in what I got after I've head so many good things, I ordered 1 scoop of chip 1 fish and a burger.The burger was so dismissal it wasn't worth photographing.

My friend has been going here for 13 years. The quality has gone downhill. Fish burger was more like a potato fritter. No beetroot and 1 slither of tomato. These burgers have been outstanding in the past.
