Owhiro Bay Beach
Nice rocky beach on the south coast of Wellington that is dog friendly. There's an off street car park and an information panel about the marine reserve that stretches along the coast line here. Nice place to go for a walk with the dog.

Nice quiet spot, but other beaches in this coast are better for swimming.

Lovely area of Wellington. Well maintained, often see people picking up rubbish. Great lot of bird life too.

The salty air in my soul and the Sun on my face as tangaroa smashed the Southern swell against our Te-whanganui-a-tara coastline. Supreme coffee.

Great beach for all day fun. Not a lot of sand. Mainly flat stones. Beautiful view. No public toilets but usually less people there than the other beaches on the south coast

Owhiro Bay Beach
Great for the end of day sun. Often brilliant sunsets. Great in a northerly as it is fairly sheltered. Best enjoyed with fish and chips from Brooklyn

Colonies of The Great Black Wing Gull's shelter, during Storm events, Rock pools , and rugged beauty back drop. It's believed quartz is found in these Hills. There is a boat ramp, and Local Chalm. Dogs must be on a leash.

Great place to stop for a break, good facilities for campers, interesting historical facts about the old quarry that you can see along the beach

Very Nice! Perhaps the wildest bay of the South Coast. For birdwatchers there is a big colony of kelp gulls and silver gulls, and is occasionally possible to see dolphins playing very near to the shore.
