Lovely beach, car park usually full as it’s so popular, there is self contained Campervan parking overnight, but best to check with council beforehand as they do lock the gate if the ground is unsuitable/wet. The beach however is very safe for swimming being sheltered, there are good clean toilets and changing rooms too, plus some nice forest walks

What a awesome little bay. clean toilets, nice grass area inder the trees the bay is easy to access and swim. great for families as there is a little playground. I felt like I found a little gem of a place to come and spend a beautiful summers day.

Matheson Bay is just postcard pretty! It has a big beach, an elevated walkway with amazing views, ablution facilities, a playground for the kids, and a place to hire canoes (not at the moment, because of lockdown). It's a lovely way to spend the day with the family or friends

Have taken my infant to Mathesons several times and grew up coming here as a kid. Lots of big pohutakawa for shade on the grass. Decent playground. Toilets and change room are nothing to rave about but they are there! No currents but has a drop off to be aware of with small children. Pontoon to swim to. Best family beach in the area!

Stunning, peaceful views. Clean well stocked public toilets, kids playground, ample parking. Simply stunning spot wort returning to chill out!
