Wanaka Water Taxi & 4x4 Explorer

Kristy was a great skipper, knowledgeable about Lake Wanaka and its islands. It was a lovely day out visiting Mou Waho and I felt safe and comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Thanks very much.

I had been wanting to go to Mou Waho Island on Lake Wanaka for many years and finally got the opportunity to go with Jason and the team from Wanaka water taxi. We had a fantastic day! Right from the start Krystle was super helpful and replied quickly to my enquiries via email. The day started out sunny and calm and our boat driver Jason was very knowledable and friendly and gave us a lot of information and stories about the local flora, fauna, geology and history. He is a long-time local and you could tell he was truly passionate about the area and we felt safe and well informed throughout the whole trip.Once on the island we had an hour and a half to explore. There was plenty of time to walk up the hill to Arethusa pool where we went swimming in the refreshing water, and then we continued up to one of the high points on the island where we had lunch and enjoyed the truly amazing views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. The track was easy to follow and there was plenty of shade walking in the regenerating native forest. The island has been cleared of introduced pest species and we saw a number of weka, bellbirds and other native bird and insect species. We were also fortunate enough to see (and hold) a native gecko which Jason found and showed us.This trip is great for families, my 5 year old daughter was able to walk the whole way by herself and was thrilled to see the weka and gecko.Thanks again to Krystle and Jason for a wonderful day out on Lake Wanaka and Mou Waho island!grwonderfulday out on Lake WanakWaho island!

Very nice trip to Mou Waho island. Highly recommended.Kyle has been very nice and explained us about the lake, it’s origins, and the islands in the Wanaka lake.After 45 minutes of sailing, we arrived to Moh Waho island. Once there, we climbed up to the top, and had nice 360 degrees view of the area and fantastic views of the lake. After taking some pictures, we went back to the boat, that took us back to Wanaka marina.We would recommended without any doubt

4x4 Explorer - best views - best guide :)We did the 4x4 Explorer last weekend. We were greeted by our guide Charlie, who was such a lovely guy and extremely knowledgeable about the station we visited, and the surrounding area. After a beautiful boat trip, we arrived at the stunning high country station, where only 4x4 Explorer had access. So we didn't see anyone else, which was so nice! The views were to die for - see the pics below. The picnic on the mountain was yummy; beautiful local wines, cheese platter, local fruit and some sweets. A highly recommended activity to see the best of the area from a stunning spot!

Had a fantastic afternoon on Lake Wānaka and Mou Waho island yesterday. Brent has great local knowledge of the area. Mou Waho is such a great little island. This trip was our highlight of our short stay in the area. Highly recommend! If we are back out this way we will be going back and booking with Wānaka water taxi. Thanks heaps :)

We took the Wanaka Water Taxi trip to Mao Wahu island and it was spectacular. Brent was our driver. He has amazing knowledge of the local area, how the lakes were formed by glaciers etc. I'm a local so I knew some of the history but I learnt lots more! The island was beautiful. We hiked to the top of the island and we swam in the lake on the island, it is a little warmer than Lake Wanaka, just the right temperature! This is an epic trip and I highly recommend it!

We booked a trip to Mou Waho for a work team activity and absolutely loved it! Brent gave us a good history of the region on the boat ride up to the island, even shared some facts that the locals amongst us didn't know! We had a great time having lunch on the island and enjoying dips in the lake :) Krystle picked us up and stopped off for one final dip in the lake on our way back to town. 10/10 would book again!

Wonderful trip out to Mou Waho with some fascinating information shared about the history of the area. Once on the island we were given two hours to explore by ourselves which was plenty of time to swim in the lake, take in the amazing views and enjoy the birdlife. A repeat visitor - this is a real treat!

Our experience with these guys were amazing. From the water taxi, to the jeep ride up the mountain, to the scenic picnic which they provided for us?!! Charlie and Krystle were so incredibly friendly and made our experience that much better. Charlie, our guide, was also super informative; educating us about the history of Wanaka - flora and fauna. The views were also breathtaking. I highly recommend experiencing this. We were so, so impressed and the cost was definitely worth it! Ps. Super child friendly!!

We had a fantastic day from start to finish. An awesome boat ride on lake Wanaka to Mt Burke and a fun 4WD up! Charlie was an amazing host, very knowledgeable and took good care of our group. Would recommend to anyone coming to Wanaka!
