The Good Companion

We started using The Good Companion in December 2020. The quality of care and services provided has been excellent. The match of companion with the needs of the family couldn't have been better. We have found the company to be very flexible and easy to deal with. All communication has been very timely and offered a great sense of working with what we need. We feel very lucky to have found such a great match with The Good Companion.

I have been liaising with Pam in the Nelson area to have in home support for my parents.Father is 91 and mother 89Both with health issuesMy father needing a lot of care, from showeringFeeding and everything required in betweenPam was quick at having a team put together and assessing their requirements, even though it was during the Christmas/New Year period.At all times I have been included by telephone, email or in person.The caregivers have been wonderful. No stress for mum trying to look after my father.The meals have been cooked for them and everything cleaned up and put away.The important part was for my father to be able to remain in his own home. To keep his dignity throughout and be treated as a person, not just a client.The caregivers are always cheerful, on time and nothing has been too much for them to handle.They work around what is needed in hours from 2hours upward and can be available 24hours if we need them.It has been such a relief to myself and the rest of the family knowing they are being cared for in such a positive professional manner.It is wonderful to have the choice of in home care where surroundings are familiar, people can pop in and visit all in a relaxed atmosphere.No feeling of isolation from family and friends.

From the start The Good Companions have been professional,caring and understanding of the needs of my Parents.They have been flexible on the days work hours.Very Caring and great companion while on the job.The extensive service allows most situations to be professionally covered with care.Highly recommended

My parents are in their 80s and needed support and assistance in getting to their medical appointments. Good Companion have been empathetic and professional in catering for this situation, especially given the ad-hoc nature of appointments. I'm thankful they are able to be flexible to my parents needs and ensuring they are both well cared for during the whole the trip.

We have sought the support from The Good Companion to meet our mother's wish to be cared for in her own home. Over the last twelve months members of the family have provided care, made difficult by the Covid 19 lockdowns both here in NZ & in Australia. Unfortunately care by the family alone has become too onerous and now with the involvement of TGC we have a comprehensive caregiver roster which is sustainable into the future.This has only been possible because TGC's Nelson Coordinator Pam has taken the time to fully understand our needs & respond in a flexible way (often at short notice) when availability of family members changes due to Covid 19 restrictions. Nothing has been too much trouble for Pam & her professionalism can not be questioned.So far, we have had two caregivers (Lynda & Stephine) who have done an excellent job looking after our mother, in 24/7 sessions. Their approach has always been what is the best for Mum and they make sure the family is kept informed of how things are going with her well-being.Well done Team" TGC

Very satisfied with the efficient and friendly service received from Good Companion, as well as are my parents receiving the care. Their billing has been accurate, assisted by their GPS based attendance logging system. Would recommend to anyone else who faces the challenge of supporting from afar older parents who want to stay in their home.

Never had a fairy godmother before until I met Rose from The Good Companion.She helped me after I’d had an accident at home , arrived promptly was kind and caring we both laughed a great deal during her time looking after me ,she was even welcomed each morning by my elderly bad tempered dog .Can not speak highly enough of my experience.
