Absolutely loved our mad campers van! This little Mazda bongo was the best home for 10 days. We drove it all the way from Christchurch, down to slopes point, over to Te Anau, Queenstown, Wanaka and then through Lake Tekapo back to Christchurch. It braved hail, snow, crazy winds and rain. So grateful for the countless memories made!!! The company is great and I definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to hire a self contained van in Nz. Thank you Mad Campers!

An amazing experience! I took my MAD1 camper on the Christchurch > Aoraki/Mount Cook > Queenstown > Fiordland > Invercargill > Dunedin > Christchurch loop over the last two weeks, and it was the perfect setup for a solo adventure. Easy to drive, comfy and safe to sleep in, and just enough space for everything (although I wouldn’t recommend bringing anything more than one 60L pack for clutter’s sake, but that’s on me!). They set you up with everything you need, and have truly thought of everything. Can’t recommend these guys enough and can’t wait to book again!

I rented a mad2 for 5 weeks of solo travel. It was perfect for me, it's small, but not too small, gas mileage is descent compared to larger vehicles. It came with everything I needed, blanket, sheets, pillows, fully stocked kitchenette, the refrigerator is of great size for a camper. It comes with a portable toilet, but flush toilets in NZ are plentiful and I never had to to use.The value of the rental is good compared to what's out there. It also saves you the hassle of buying and selling a camper which takes away from your adventure and time on the road. The customer service was good, and when I did something or had a question, it was always taken care of and quickly.It's not a rocket ship"

We took the two man camper for just under a month and it was great for the price. The bed is comfy enough and the van comes with everything you need for a long old road trip. Roof rack is a great addition and helps prevent the van getting too overcrowded. The people are very friendly, helpful and responsive to any emails we sent before, during and after our trip. You can sometimes get a 5% discount using a code and a little more off if you complete the mad challenge!!

Highly recommended! I've rented a Mad-Adventurer for about 6 weeks, earlier this year. Great car has everything you need and had no issues with it. Very friendly Staff and fair prices.Good Company!

We have just had 12 incredible days in our MadCamper 2… and we’re gutted it’s over.We can’t recommend these guys enough… they’ve thoroughly thought of everything to make your adventure perfect and stress free.The vans are super spacious and there’s plenty of room for everything you want to take thanks to the roof top box.They even supply you with cooking oil, washing liquid, S&P and washing powder.All these little touches we found very handy… along with the tap at the back we was great after a day at the beach and we even used it to shower with twice!The kitchen equipment and utensils were great too.The customer service we received was impeccable too, friendly & fast responses. Some of the best service I have ever had.These guys genuinely want you to have a good time and have done everything to make sure you can and that you don’t need to worry about anything.They made it completely stress and worry free for us.We will 100% be using them again and we can’t wait!

No idea why they have this point going on. When we went to pick up (order placed by my friend, Manoj), they asked is to visit a place 17/25 Logistics Drive to pick it up. They had forgotten to email us that and just when we visited them, and called only they said that. But he was good enough to apologize and offer us a taxi for free. Nothing was there. Even nobody was there either. But I highly recommend taking away their Mad Campers" letters out from the back window

Posted some photos of what you will see 80-90% of a time, cow and sheep pastures, local nature completely removed, often no trees, barren hills as far as you can see, if you see trees in some places they are often from europe or america, that's not what I imagined before coming to NZ...Winter time, 15 days, half price comparing to Jucy that breaks down often, no problems on the road. Overall, everything was great. Everything worked in a car.Small issues: 1. No person to ask questions. We just got a car through another company. I was not sure if we had winter tires, I couldn't find that info anywhere, but I didn't bother to ask. 2. Van can be slow up the hill, not a big problem 3. It uses quite a lot of fuel, and I would pay a little bit more to have a version that's twice as efficient. 4. Slow L" gear is automatic and quickly jumps up. I was not sure if it's possible to manually keep the car on 1st gear on super steep road"

This is my 2nd times renting Mad1 to travelling around New Zealand. 1st time with Auckland branch and 2nd time with Christchurch. I am in love with it.Thank you MAD for giving me such an unforgettable and amazing 12-day solo trip and let me feel safe while travelling around NZ. The condition of the car is so good that I just need to focus on driving and don't need to worry about anything. I didn't pull over and check engine during my trip.MAD 1 took me to where I wanted to go and let me tick what I want to do in my bucket list. I definitely would come back and this time I definitely will rent MAD 2 which I didn't get luck to rent last time.P. S Somehow I feel like Mad got a perfect fit with every attractiona when I took every photo.I still want to thank you Dale for being patient and helpful after I made a stupid mistake when I returned the car.

We booked the Mad 2 for about 2 weeks. It's one of the best decisions we had ever made. The customer service was amazing. They were so accommodating with our requests. The replies were always fast. Picking up the van in their Auckland office was smooth and easy. The van was spacious and came with everything we needed from kitchenware to duvet and pillows. We drove around the north and south islands. Dropping off at the Christchurch location was easy and they had free shuttle service to take you to the airport there. Overall, the best way to see New Zealand is to rent one of the vans and drive around! We highly recommend Mad Camper!
