We had a whistle stop tour through the Coromandel and have to say this place was impressive. The accommodation was great. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, which was very spacious and comfortable. There was car park space for 2 cars, although unfortunately the people staying in the cabin next to us knocked our car and dented the door and didn't own up! That has no bearing on our experience of this place though. The owners were great. Laid back and friendly, even helping us book our next place. There is loads to do as well. As we were only staying 1 night we didn't get to do half the stuff available, but did really enjoy the kayaking in the creek!Te Mata itself is quite remote, and mostly untouched jungle, so make sure you bring food & mosquito repellent.Overall, and amazing place. Gives a true feeling of New Zealand and the Coromandel.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay whilst in the Hawkes bay. The room was very large and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had questions. We had a great stay and can’t wait to go back!

Our first stop in a 3 week tour of new zealand. What a start. If we hadnt got other accomadation and trips booked i swear we'd stil be there. We had a camping hut. Basic but had every thing we needed. Murrays welcome is still ringing my ears. Nothing was too much trouble. The gravel drive just added to the quiet remotness. Lots of great adbice about quiet places to visit during the peak season

Enjoyed a wonderful nights stay at Te Mata Lodge cottage, awesome setting, just a perfect place to get away from it all, soak up Kiwi bush atmosphere yet still be handy to Thames-Coromandel attractions. Our host was outstanding and would definitely stay again. Really recommend for family groups in particular.

A nicely run place. The only downside is the narrow drive to negotiate to get thereThe family were very hospitable and made us very welcomeAlthough our cabin was old it had been nicely decorated and was very clean. A rainy night brought an invasion of ants in through the toilet. The following morning the were all gone. The king bed was nicely made with luxurious linens.I.loved the swimming hole in the river. Refreshing and cool.
