Our beautiful whanau came together from all over to celebrate my dads 80th here at Te Takinga Marae. We have such special memories we will hold close to our hearts forever. An amazing location ❤️

Te Takinga Marae
Went there a couple of years ago when I was traveling with a bus company. We were able to get to know a bit about Maori culture, sleep in a proper marae, eat some nice food, learn to do the haka ( wich was fun AND very manly) and spend time with some really great people. Definitely one of the most memorable and beautiful stays in a long line of memorable and beautiful stays in NZ!

Te Takinga Marae is a beautiful marae that is next to the Ohau channel in Mourea. Our whanau gather here to celebrate Birthdays, Ceremonies, functions of any kind and also to celebrate the life of those who have passed on from this world. Te Takinga marae is a sacred house where Ancestors watch over us, guide us and keep us safe.
