Stayed 2 nights. Got a bargain on a cabin for the family. Great meals, friendly people and good to get away from the tourist's at Castlepoint lol

Great country pub with all day food menu. Fish and chips was good. Beer garden was a nice place on a sunny day but could do with some more shade.

My family was on holiday at Castle Point and went to the restaurant at this hotel for dinner. My partner ordered the Surf and Turf. We waited a long time for the meal, which didn't bother us too much we would have just appreciated being told there was a wait when we ordered. When the meal arrived my partner only had steak on his plate and pointed out the 'surf' was missing. The waitress appoligised and said she would bring some for him. After a bit of a wait she came back and informed us the person who took our order said he definitely only ordered steak and looked at us as though we were trying to get away with something. We told her not to worry about it but were left feeling embarrassed and humiliated as the place was full and the waitress was quite loud. If we had been told a mistake had been made and the order had been written down as only steak but would he want the turf we would have been happy. To top it off my partners steak was rare and not Medium cooked and was full of fat so he ended up leaving most of it. We felt we couldn't give any more feed back. My meal and the kids meals were lovely but we didn't order desert and left as soon as we could as we felt our dining experience had been destroyed.
