Big Little Campers - Campervan Rentals

We hired ‘the little one’ for around 2 weeks in December ‘22. We loved our Mazda bongo - the design was very clever to enable us to change the setup depending on whether we were parked up and cooking on the beach, going out for the day exploring or setting up for sleep. Although it is ‘the little one’ it has everything we needed including a stove, kitchen amenities, a fridge, chairs, a table and a toilet (although we didn’t use that haha). We also really appreciated how easy Jon was to contact and he was quick and helpful in replying with any questions that arose. Our first time in a camper and definitely won’t be our last based on our experience. Would recommend to anyone, so much better to support this independent business than the likes of the bigger typical van hire companies. Thanks Jon - we hope to use Big Little Campers again in the future!

My partner and I absolutely loved bouncing around new Zealand with this van! It was a great size, easy to maneuver around the smaller roads and kept us plenty warm on cold nights. Wonderful people to rent from, great little van.

One great month with the Toyota Hiace.Pick-up location is just a short walk away from the Park&Ride from Auckland airport. Nicolle welcomed us and introduced us to all the features of the van plus gave useful tips for travelling. Everything was as described. Had a great time travelling the North&South island, even though the van is not the most powerful. The team was always quick and easy to contact in case anything came up. We can definitely recommend BLC and would consider booking again if (or rather when) we come back!

We just came back from a 3 week trip aroun NZ with 'The Little One'.The campervan interior was really efficient, even in this relatively small vehicle we never had the feeling it was too small.The cooking fires en utensils were easy to use, even in windy conditions.Jon was really helpful when we ran into any problems (the only problem we encountered was overheating after a long climb, which could be prevented by driving in lower gear).If we ever come back (and we hope we do) we will be sure to come back to Big Little Campers as well!

Definitely recommended! We travelled around NZ on ‘the little one’ for 7 weeks and had a great time. The van was great, never broke down and John was always available for support when needed.We loved the setup of the camper and it is very efficient in comparison to others: the van is small (convenient on the roads) but still has lots of storage so it doesn’t feel like that.Next to the great interior, there’s everything you need: kitchen (2-pit), fridge, table and chairs, toilet (which we never had to use) and just anything you need in the kitchen :)Thanks for having us BLC!

We are so happy that we booked with Big Little Campers. Of all the companies to choose, I don’t think you could find a better combination of thoughtful design, responsive customer service, and generally good vibes. We are so glad we booked with Jon and will definitely do so again if we have the opportunity to return to NZ one day.

We had a great experience with Big Little Campers, renting the Biggest One for 6 days in total. Nicolle greeted us at the pickup point and explained everything clearly to us, was friendly and very helpful with tips for things to see during our time on the North Island. Nicolle then walked us around the campervan and showed us how it all worked. We were provided with everything we needed during our trip and had no issues at all. Jon was helpful with queries we had during the trip too. The campervan design was compact, everything had its own place and was able to be secured whilst driving. The bed set up was also very comfortable. The campervan was easy to drive and park too. We would recommend Big Little Campers to everyone coming to New Zealand!

I LOVED MY VAN!! Was super easy to book, pick up, and drop up. Had everything I needed and was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on.Driving in another country is always a little scary, so having a reliable vehicle was a godsend!This is the best way to travel NZ, I highly recommend!

For over a month I called ‘The Little One’ home.I explored both islands and none of it could have been possible without BLC. I highly recommend this van for single travellers. It has everything you need to make your adventure come true. All the features are great! Propane stove is simple to use and clean. Tons of storage. Good little sink. Great lighting. Easy to use sound system. Plus it’s self-contained to boot.On top of all that, the service from the BLC team is unmatched. Whenever something came up, they were there for me. Even before booking, when I was concerned about the cooler temperatures on the South Island, they added a warmer winter duvet to the van. They really pay attention to the details. Excellent communication before, during and after my journey. Thanks for everything BLC!
