This area is no longer available for freedom camping. The toilets, changing rooms and shower were upgraded a couple of years ago. Please check you have your belongings before leaving.

Wonderful new toilets and changing rooms and east access down to the beach. Great long soft sand beach to explore, run, swim and build sand castles at even on a gloomy day.There's often a drift wood shelter that someone has made which is a lot of fun to play in and around.

Was visiting mum so we took the dog to the beach for a walk. Lovely place, great beach. Surfers were out today, too cold for me. Lovely walk.

Do not read this review....We love Campbell Bay / Kakanui and are there often. Don't want to live here, but enjoy it just the same. Great walk, surf and swim (if you can brave the temp).
