William Patino Photography Workshops

Without a doubt my best photography experience to date, experiencing the South Island of New Zealand with Will Patino on one of his workshops.Will is a natural teacher, he is down to earth and genuine. I watched Will adapt his style for all of the different skill levels on the workshop to ensure everyone got the best out of themselves and the experience.Will kept the itinerary flexible to ensure we captured the best locations with the best conditions, it was so amazing to be able to photograph many of the same locations that he has captured portfolio shots at.From in the field tuition one on one and as a group, to post processing sessions both in a group and one on one, the workshop was everything and more than I hoped for.I highly recommend Will Patino’s photography workshops.

We have just had a wonderful week of photography, and being in the natural beauty of New Zealand. I am a beginner photographer and found Will to be kind and generous in his teaching and time over the trip. Fully recommend the trip and would like to comeback again.

Will was simply fantastic. He was able to very effectively meet different photography experience levels: I am a beginner, and the other participant has decades of experience, but we both learned incredible amounts. True to his word, he had me shooting in manual mode within only a couple of hours. Even more impressive was that I understood WHY I was making adjustments to aperture, exposure, and ISO, rather than just randomly changing my settings. Not only is Will an excellent teacher, but his love for nature and for using photography as a means to connect to the beauty around us is infectious.Will's teaching style is effective and transformative: the single day workshop has changed the way I view the world--even as I drive down the road, rather than simply noticing what is around me, I can't help but analyze the scenery with an eye toward lighting and composition. In addition, as I look at other photographers' work (including postcards, or even framed prints), I am able to better critique why a particular photo is (or is not) compelling. Such analysis is not something I did prior to the workshop with Will.Conversations with Will were also fascinating. Between the interesting discussions as we drove and the effective hands-on photography training, the day flew by. I only wish we had more than one single day, and I would love to return for one of his longer workshops. This experience was a major highlight of my trip to New Zealand, and without reservation I highly recommend a workshop with Will.

My husband and I recently had the absolute pleasure of joining Will on his Unseen NZ tour. This was my third workshop with Will and each and every time I come away with a feeling of gratitude; for the extraordinary scenes we experienced, the new skills I learned and all the fun and laughs we had along the way.If you're looking to experience the rugged, raw beauty of New Zealand and come away with not only a bucket load of exceptional images, but thoroughly enjoy your holiday, then Will Patino's workshops are definitely for you.

After becoming friends with Will through social media a few years ago and coming to greatly admire his photography, I recently had the pleasure of finally meeting him and attending his New Zealand South Island Workshop. Here, I saw first-hand his incredible knowledge and passion for landscape photography while being impressed by his second-to-none ability to pass that knowledge on to those taking his workshops.Catering for all levels of photographers, Will’s workshops are not only incredibly fun and relaxed – mainly due to his very funny sense of humour – they are also a great way to meet other like-minded photographers while greatly expanding your skills. It is safe to say that I could not recommend Will’s workshops any more highly – I took away so much from the six days I spent learning from who I honestly believe is one of the world’s best landscape photographers.If you are looking for an experience from which you will walk away with not only a greater depth of knowledge but also a hunger to take your photography to the next level, then Will Patino’s workshops are for you. In fact, I enjoyed my experience so much, I am already booked in and greatly looking forward to attending Will’s South Island New Zealand Winter Workshop in August 2019

I had the privilege of attending Will Patino’s 9 day Unseen New Zealand Aerial Workshop and what a fantastic opportunity I experienced.Travelling and visiting places away from the general tourist locations known only to the locals and 4 amazing helicopter flights.Will is passionate about his photography which is evident in his ability to teach, lead and develop each participant on the workshop with our own photographic journey.Will was quick to establish what level of ability each of us had and continue working with each of us to further our skills in the field and processing those images after the shoot.His experience and skill was exceptional particularly evident whilst on our aerial shoots with him accompany us on the flights, continual guidance (talking, hand gestures) whilst flying - doors off, finding and guiding the pilot to the best locations. Amazing.Will is a great guy and I throughly enjoyed my time with him and other participants on the workshop.Accommodation was great, company was fantastic and I highly recommend if you have the opportunity to book yourself on one or Will’s trips. My 7-day landscape photography tour with William Patino on the South Island of New Zealand was an opportunity to further develop my limited skill and knowledge about landscape photography, and Will delivered on his workshop promises.The combination of Will's unparalleled expertise, the carefully curated itinerary, comfortable accommodations, seamless transportation, and the sense of camaraderie created an experience that exceeded all expectations.Will is great at adapting his teaching style to the level required for each individual participant in the workshop. I can not recommend this experience highly enough to any photography enthusiast of any level of ability seeking to capture the amazing beauty of New Zealand's South Island.Included bonus: Good laughs and plenty of coffee opportunities!

TL;DR: If you want to come back with a treasure trove of epic images, vastly elevate your on-field and post-processing technical pedigree in landscape photography, discover sceneries that are stunningly unique, bask in absolute wilderness or just witness the absolute majesty of New Zealand - call Will!I have had the privilege of knowing and shooting with some excellent photographers; and quite expectedly, had high expectations from Will's Unseen NZ workshop. Suffice to say that it far exceeded what I had hoped for - and in every manner possible. What truly stood out all through is Will's remarkable professionalism, affability and execution on the field. I struggled with unrelenting withdrawal symptoms even after a week of getting back to India, often hallucinating about the majestic sights and missing the joyful camaraderie - and that to me is the pinnacle of a great trip. I'm already stitching a plan to get back and shoot with Will!As for the workshop itself, which comprised of four of us, Will had all the logistics planned out, even while the points of interest remained largely fluid. The dynamicity of the tour, a key USP in itself, largely pivots on Will's extremely strong connections and relationships with several players in south island's tourism sector and as well as his extremely intricate knowledge of the terrain and light. For instance, Will could anticipate the lack of good light and conditions at couple of locations well in advance and he was able to arrange equally compelling alternatives just as he was driving us around. We stayed at excellent hotels, traveled in a comfortable van, savored good food and played by the clock. Our group comprised of individuals with varying degree of fitness and Will went above and beyond to ensure every individual was able to gain a wholesome experience, without limiting the movement of the entire group at large. The final icing on the cake was just learning the on field and post-processing technical aspects from Will. Personally, I found Will's ability to plan compositions, forecast light and conditions; and maneuver on the field quite magical and something every photographer should experience first hand.

My daughter and I had an awesome day out with Will into Fiordland. Misty mountains, waterfalls, forest and Milford Sound. Will knows the locations and which ones work with the weather and he's a great guy to be with so a really enjoyable day. He also gave us some tips on the Mt Cook area. Thoroughly recommend the experience.
