Four Square Wanaka

A good shop if you’re looking for something quick. Surprised at the low prices compared to the Supermarket. But, if you have time, it’s best to stop off at New World.

Supermarket having most of the items. Fresh food and Deli options available. Ample parking space.

Everything you need, without having to walk in a storm to the 'BIG' supermarket in Wanaka

The 4Square in Wanaka is on Ardmore Street. There is street side parking for those driving to this location. We found this supermarket to be quite a bit smaller than the New World Supermarket nearby in the town centre.Food and drink selections were a bit limited by comparison to New World but sufficient for quick shopping needs.We'd stop here again if in need of something quick and easy to find. For more and better selection, best to make way to New World.

Friendly staff, and lacks nothing. Definitely more convenient than driving all the way to the new supermarket at the outskirts of town. Only downside being prices above average.

My experience with Four Square Wanaka is, well, one of a kind. I'll explain it for you. On the 15th of March 2023, in the afternoon, I fell in front of the shop and couldn't move because my leg was hurt to much. Waiting for the ambulance to come, the friendly staff helped a lot. They gave me a sandwich for free, kept a parking space for the ambulance and came out regularly to ask how I was doing and if they could help with something. I'm deeply moved by their concern. After 1 night in the hospital I travelled further. I bought my groceries as much as I could at Four Square shops because of my experience, but also because Four Square is a nice shop to be, with honest pricing. Now, back in The Netherlands, a deep feeling of gratitude remains. So staff of Four Square Wanaka, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Visited today, what a mistake! I have a mask exemption granted to me by the Disabled Persons Assembly who have advised I am under no obligation to carry the card they sent me but that I might feel more comfortable having it.Upon entry I was asked where my mask was, when I advised I was exempt the clerk asked to see my card, he may as well have said papers please!" now all the other customers were looking at me. I showed him my card and did my shop.At check out I advised him I didn't actually 'HAVE' to show him my card to which he said "well this is private property and we dont 'HAVE' to allow you entry". When I advised him this would be disability discrimination he replied "well theres laws coming in and we WONT have to".Well I don't know what laws would allow a store to discriminate against the disabled but 4SQ Wanaka obviously think they can and certainly will!!"

Had the products we needed and good range of biscuits for a small place.

Small place but had 9/10 items we were after. Friendly young staff good to have a chat to while hunting around on a quiet night.
