The crew and skippers at Rakiura Charters and Water Taxi are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. They have been amazingly helpful to us for our hoiho / yellow-eyed penguin work. We are super appreciative of them dropping us off and picking us up from different sites. Thanks team :)

Have been out on several different trips and always had awesome service from booking to trip. Even had no hassles getting on and off their vessel in my wedding dress! Great pelagics and always great to take to different parts of the Rakiura Track, Freshwater, Rakeahua, and hunters blocks!

We had Craig collect us from Freshwater Inlet and again the next day when going to Ulva Island. He is clearly a very experienced (& friendly) skipper who gave clear safety briefings, respected the social distancing during Covid and was always punctual.The phone staff were very helpful and friendly and they are accommodating with times to suit.I would definitely recommend Rakiura Charters and will use them again.

A fun way to hop the local islands and a nice ride over to Ulva Island from Oban. The boat was clean and full of information to peruse on your way across. Punctual service and flexible daily charter schedule. Their customer service phone team was also very friendly and accommodating. As the saying goes: “You’re on island time” — they had no issue changing their journey times to a slot that suited my party. All around a pleasant experience.

I organised a specific pick up time with Rakiura charters and water taxi at Freshwater hut after a week long tramp. They were on time and provided a reliable quaility service.The team were informative and the boat modern and well equipped. Communications were excellent with the office throughout my trip planning and Alina was very helpful with useful advice. We used them to take us to Ulva Island (highly recommended) the next day too. Very impressed, Highly recommend.

First time customer, booked a short trip from Oban to Ulva island. They were responsive and punctual and the price seemed right, given that it is mid-winter and they are the only operator on the island. Will gladly use again in future visits to Stewart Island.
