Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort

The location was beautiful, cabins tucked into the mountain side. A bit of a hike but golf cart ride on request. The restaurant experience was quite disappointing. The meal I had the first night, beef, was fine. However the meal selection the next night was down to just 2 items, beef again or seafood. There was a pre-arranged agreement to accommodate one of our party’s food allergies but the chef was 0 for 2 on that. We did find very good restaurants in the Town fortunately.The location and staff we met really saved this stay for us. Gracie at the front desk and the main waiter were very helpful and considerate.

Room lovely -although at top of the hill. Breakfast and dinner ok - although low on eggs. Knives and forks ran out at breakfast and didn't want us to use dinner ones? However, I had a lost case and with thanks to Grace, Warren, and Heather (Warren and Heather completed a 6 hour round trip) they managed to retrieve and reunite me with it! Very above and beyond and I am very grateful

We loved staying here, the staff were fantastic and it feels like you are in a tree house in the middle of the bush. It rained while we were there, so getting to and from the car park was a bit inconvenient, but they did provide umbrellas. We were disappointed with the pull out wall bed (Murphy) in our room and the staff did offer to change rooms, but the King rooms do not have kitchen facilities, so we chose to stay because we really wanted the kitchen. Some people may find the walk up to the rooms challenging because it is quite steep, but the staff were very generous with using the golf buggy to drop people to their rooms, so it shouldn't be an issue just a little inconvenient.

The small table outside with the chair is enjoyable with a coup of teaThe +large and very comfortable mattressThe -over the window doors, there were other windows without any curtains so the light comes very early in the bedroom (in summer)Step climb to go to the chalet, you need to be fit:)When you call the reception they sometimes dont answer and dont call you back either

The rooms are shabby. Things like the frypan handle is so loose it's dangerous. The kitchen sink tap is loose and twists. Heated towel rail doesn't work. A black slug came out of the couch...Lots of maintenance required. It's a beautiful location but needs work.We had an awful meal experience in the restaurant. The staff are not trained (& are really young and have no idea) so there's great room for improvement. Three mains available, they ran out of food and just plonked something in front of the person saying 'we're out of lamb' too bad if you don't eat venison. Sides came as the meal.was finished, meals were missed, and really defensive staff. For the price? Don't bother. You'll be very disappointed

We just checked in. The staff members are highly professional and so much accommodating. Accor never disappoints us. Shoutout to Mohit. I have stayed here 4 times with my family as we really like to spend quality time with our family in the resort. I want to thank Grand Mercure Puka Park team for making our staff so special. I highly highly recommend this place.

This is really a special place to be.The treehouses are in the forest and are very beautiful. The food in the restaurant is delicious and the staff is very helpful. They even bring you to your treehouse with a golfcart. Special thanks to Heather. Thank you for bringing us each time with a smile.Michael

Stayed at this place for a short mid week getaway and was certainly very happy with the choice. The room was very comfortable and especially loved that it had a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher inside each unit. Dinner at the Miha restaurant was lovely and the food was pretty good too even though a little pricey. The facilities includes a nice heated pool and spa. The spa was out of order while I was here which was a shame.The place has access to an outdoor power socket that is used to charge the hotel buggy and doubles as an EV charger. This is a standard outdoor socket so you will get 2kwh maximum. This socket is located right infront of the reception and accessible by a couple of loose extension cords. EV owners will have to park your car by the side of the entrance to avoid blocking the driveway. I did not feel that the extension cords nor parking space was entirely the best setup in general. It might not be potentially safe to leave extension cords left out in the elements. Even though there were 2 outdoor sockets, it’s only capable of charging one EV car at a time. The left socket seems to have priority when 2 EV cars are plugged in.I hope Grand Mercure would strongly consider installing proper EV chargers in dedicated parking spots as that would be a huge selling point to stay here. Especially since the closest public charger is 20mins drive away.Overall I had a great experience staying here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Pauanui.
