Great fish n chips. Reasonably priced and tastes nice and fresh. The Chinese takeaways are awesome too. Staff are friendly and great people. Definitely the best place in Stokes Valley

Busy Friday night, went down there to place an order and had to wait 30 mins. When we got home, they missed 2 fish from our order. We weren't the only customer that had a order messed up.

Best fish and chips in the Hutt Valley. Always friendly. Able to phone orders through. Chinese food is good too. As with all Chinese food. Loads of MSG and the sauces can be terribly sweet, Lemon Chicken. Sweet and Sour Pork etc. Otherwise Hearty fare. Recommend.

Felt like Fish N chips and our usual is closed for Renovations so decided to try Johns. We had not been back for awhile. Ordered the $25.00 family pack (5 fish, 2 potato fritters, 2 hotdogs and 2 scoops of chips), spring rolls and toasted sandwhich...to be honest the toasted sandwhich and the two hotdogs was probably the only thing we enjoyed. The fish was double battered and unfortunately heavy in oil, hardly any fish. The chips were ok, potato fritters was just batter...heavy in oil as well. Spring rolls..took one bite and unfortunately that was it.Disapointed really as Johns used to be pretty good...unless we just hit a bad night. I have heard it can be a hit n miss...oh well..dont think we will be going back anytime soon.

Great substantial food, very friendly and quick as a flash. Really impressed and well feed from our dinner from John's.

A varied menu. Something to suite most taste pallets....we thought. Close, convenient parking. We recently relocated to the area. Our family decided to try the food on Saturday evening - we were disappointed. The fish and chips were extremely oily overpowering the taste of the fish. Chips soggy, unpleasant. Honestly, it put us off, as a result at least half the food was not eaten. The amount of oil that soaked into the wrapped paper and box was noticed because there was so much oil. A combination dish ordered had few pieces of meat and only one type which respectfully was not what we asked for. We hope our review will assist management.
