Restaurant was tidy and clean, service was great - staff very friendly. The chef was great!! My food came out very fast and it was so yum!! I was given a complimentary drink with my meal as well. 10/10 experience at Two Fat Indians, Papanui.

Worst restaurant experience ever!!We waited for almost an hour then apparently they forget our biryani in the oven and came out burned!! The dough on top was burned and small bits of it fall on the rice!! I know they cut and open the dough in front of customers but this time because it was burned they brought out already cut and opened, they thought we wouldn't notice!!We also ordered lamb vindaloo, it was really bad tasted like metal!!I would never recommend it to anyone. They obviously don't care about their customers as they serve burned food.Such a waste of money!!Update: reply to the owner.Isn't just basic to not serve your customers burned food? Why waiting for us to say anything? We were in a hurry and we didn't want to wait longer that's why we didn't say anything! Thanks for the offer but would never go back there

We had purchased a GrabOne voucher for lunch here. The voucher instructions said to book online or email the restaurant. We did the latter and received email confirmation of our booking. When we arrived, we were told they did not have us booked in.There was a big group already in the restaurant and, while they did have a spare table for us, we were told there would be a 45-minute wait. We were not offered drinks to fill in the time, and had to help ourselves to the one bottle of water sitting on the counter.When we finally got our food, the meat was very tender and the curry flavours tasty. My mild curry was spicier than I expected, while my partner's hot curry was milder than he wanted. We asked for more water and got the impression that was an imposition; the replacement bottle was almost slammed down on the table.We know things can go wrong, but good service would have gone some way to making up for things.. At the very least an apology for the booking mix up would have been appreciated.The menu is fairly limited and, given our experience, we won't be rushing back. There are so many other Indian restaurants in Chch that do good food and good service.

This was by far the best meal we had in Christchurch! The butter chicken was creamy and delicious. The naan with cheese and garlic was to die for. The service was impeccable. I only wish we had time to go back again!

Ordered takeaway for first time was ready when they said it would be. ( 30 min after call )Quiet Sunday, the 2 tables that just left had cleaned their plates 100% which is a good sign.Clean place with good furniture.The 2 naan’s and gluten naan where good the 2 curries also good.Would go back and eat in next time.

We were so excited to dine at this restaurant! We often do a trip to Kmart and can smell the amazing smell. To say our experience was disappointing is an understatement, the only thing I can say was good was the coke no sugar. The service unfortunately was below average, the lady seemed lovely however we had to ask for our own cutlery, was declined clean cutlery from our entree to main & just overall not a pleasant experience. We were given no napkins with our cutlery and not offered fresh water and or asked if we wanted another drink. I am vegetarian and never have I had such a lack of options, I ordered a paneer dish - 5 minutes later the lady came out to say it was unavailable, when I looked again I asked if I could have the butter chicken (without chicken & with veges) she said I could have the sauce? I then explained again what I wanted and she said she had to check with the chef, she didn’t come back and consult I just assumed it was okay. When the meal arrived it was evident that all they had done was add a few frozen mixed veges to the sauce & called it vegetarian. The sauce tasted as though I was eating tomato soup, usually this is something I would share on the night but we were not asked how our meals were or anything like that. All 3 of us were very disappointed in the quality of food and the lack of taste. The bathroom were extremely unhygienic that I wouldn’t even go in. We will not be returning to this restaurant and will also be sharing our views with our friends and family.

Food is OK, need more customer service there. No napkins on our table or at the counter. Should be three stars but I see owner replied every review, that’s worth 1 more star.

I went there yesterday with my family. When we arrived around 1pm the staff looked at us like they didn’t want us there. The food was ok but after 3 or 4 hours my 2 years old daughter got food poisoning and started vomiting. We are pretty sure that it was from the yogurt sauce that she had because she was the only one who ate that. What a horrible experience!And replying to your previous reply the point that I am making here is that the yogurt sauce was clearly not good to consume probably spoiled and that why my little one got sick. She is used to eat yogurt so instead of blaming me you should apologize and double check the food that you offer in your restaurant and also you should ask your staff to be more friendly with customers. Yes it was a horrible experience!!

Not a pleasant experience food was bland and watery.Half a bottle of water was given when we arrived and the bottle had curry stains on it which makes me think it was a used bottle from previous tables.Tried several times to flag the server to have the bottle changed but the waiter was all by himself in the restaurant and he was either on the phone or dealing with other customers.When the food arrived it was not what we asked for and tried several times to get his attention so they could fix the issue but failed. The server looked overwhelmed and disinterested, he could have definitely had another person or 2 to help him out.There were no serviettes on the table either. With no sign of getting these issues resolved and 2 young hungry children we reluctantly ate the below average food.When paying the bill the server just tried to rush the whole process making us feel uncomfortable to say anything, he didn’t even bother to ask us if the meal was alright.Of course we have had some below average food experiences in the past at other restaurants etc but by far this topped all of them for me to post my first negative review.

Food was good! We were only ones In restaurant and there was no music so we ate in silence. A staff member on the cashier started drinking a bottle of beer while we were still there and was on phone. our server had his earphones in. Looked unprofessional.
