A very nice area, however there is construction work being done. So no launching boats or entry to the beach unless you want to fall over trying to avoid the concrete pieces and mobile fencing .... Finish your work. Typical in this country. Takes forever ♾️

The landing is a small cafe at lake Tarawera. We arrived when it was closed but its a beautiful little spot. There are toilets handy but I imagine parking is difficult when the cafe is open. There is a boat ramp next to the jetty if you want to launch your boat. The jetty is also a good photo opportunity if you can get it without people on it, winter might be a better time to snap this picture.The water is beautiful and clear and its a very popular swimming spot with plenty of spaces for practicing bombs!I would recommend taking bug repellent, especially in the evening as the sand flies are something else!

We timed our first visit here on a very squally wet morning.Tea for two was perfect, tasty, hot, rich, colourful and plenty of it.Service was faultless, prompt, polite, and friendly.Shall return with a breakfast in mind.
