Totally Tarawera

I booked Totally Tarawera to take my small group of friends to Hot Water Beach on Lake Tarawera. Tracey was very helpful when I wanted to adjust my booking by phone and Wayne our skipper on the water taxi went above and beyond to assist us and make our day extra special. Highly recommended.

We used Totally Tarawera to get dropped off for a day walk. Shuttle was perfectly on time from the car park, and we had a great driver. The walk back was beautiful!

We booked the water taxi from Hot Water Beach after walking the Tarawera Trail. Easy to achieve by phone and very helpful young lady. Received a timely reminder of the prompt arrival of the boat - very reassuring - lovely boat ride back and shuttle back to the car. A great experience thank you.

Fantastic experience with Totally Tarawera's water taxi service to Hot Water Beach. Efficient shuttle service from the carpark, great boat ride on Dave's water taxi, stunning views and a magic destination in the beach/campsite. The Tarawera Trail back to the carpark is just magnificent. Many thanks.

Totally Tarawera manage the Hot Water Beach camp ground.. However, their lack of visibility at the camp ground was glaringly obvious. No maintenance, no checking of campers or camp sites. No clearing or trimming of vegetation. One group partied till 1.30pm and nothing was done about it. Not good enough. I've been going to HWB for 25 years and it's very sad to see it's demise.

We hiked the Tarawera Trail and unfortunately missed our pickup time but Wayne and Tracey were amazing! They were so accommodating and helpful and definitely put us at ease. They ensured we didn't spend the night stuck at Hot Water Beach. Will happily recommend and use their services in the future. Thank you Totally Tarawera!

Totally useless. They decided not to run the water taxi on the day we booked as they were ‘tired’ and needed a day off with a week left to go of the school holidays! Never got back regarding whether they could find someone to fill in until a day before we left Auckland when they txted to say they couldn’t. Also facilities at campsite very very basic for the camping price, just portaloos. No water and you can’t drink the lake water due to arsenic from the thermal area.** We did bring our own water as we had researched that the campground did not provide any prior. Your driver did not give us any water.**Family business or not - just simply unprofessional.

Totally Tarawera, a remarkable family-run business, deserves a solid 5-star rating! Our boat tour to the hot springs was absolutely extraordinary. Dave, our knowledgeable guide, shared captivating stories about the history of Lake Tarawera, making the experience even more engaging. The Bush Hot Pools provided a tranquil haven on a winter day, offering the perfect respite. The fact that it's a family business adds an extra touch of warmth and authenticity to the entire experience. From start to finish, the service was impeccable. Must do in Rotorua.

Really enjoyed our hosts talk on the history of the area. We did the Ultimate Day activity. We had the taxi take us out to the 3.5 hour walk up to Tarawera Falls. So beautiful and we had the place to ourselves. Even had a swim in the swimming hole on the way back to the jetty. We were picked up again for a 30 minute cruise around and had another swim at the hot pools in the bush. Magical. Will book the Clamping accommodation next time and swim at hot water beach.
