The Court Theatre
Watched a production of RENT here. Booked last minute and had a seat on the edge. However, the view of the performance was still very clear. The $30 for people aged under 30 was a great deal and I really enjoyed the performance. The only blip was that the theatre was 50mins walk away from where we were staying in Christchurch but I’ve been told it will be moving to the CBD in future. Looking forward to visiting again at the new theatre in future.

Driven out of its home in the Arts Centre downtown by the 2011 earthquake, the theatre repurposed an old grain shed in Christchurch’s suburb of Addington to good effect. The site is off the beaten path in an industrial zone that is not welcoming on foot at night, but the venue bustles with the energy of pizza and drinks before the show, and the theatre itself is comfortable and intimate despite nearly 400 seats.I saw the rock musical Next to Normal on a Saturday night. Not sold out, it was well staged and acted, and the words could mostly be heard over the music. An enjoyable evening despite a difficult theme.

The Court Theatre
Court Theatre never disappoints and always pulls best productions in the city and undoubtedly in entire country. Well hidden and not easy to find, located in its temporary location in back alley of Addington, but totally worth the effort. Been coming here regularly for the past five years and all the productions are always world class. Actors are great and giving their best, pulling fantastic performances. Although location is only temporary , you don’t notice that at any moment - absolutely everything the stage, lighting and sound is really good and better than in many other theatres. From the moment you enter the building you will be greeted by warm smile of manager of or one of staff and it gives that nice and cozy atmosphere. As much as I’m happy for Court moving to its new location, this one has certainly its charm as well. Keep doing great work!

Frozen Jr was an excellent showcase for some of this city's young talent. My 7yr old granddaughter loved the production.

Nice pre-show meal (pizza) and drinks. Found good seats near the front of the stage and enjoyed the performance of ‘Rent’.

Visiting from the UK, we watched Sense and Sensibility with local friends. It was brilliant. We loved the Court Theatre and the production was amazing, clever, witty and funny. Really refreshing take on a classic. We hope it travels to the UK as we would take friends there. Highly recommended!

My husband and myself attended a performance at the court theatre last night and although we enjoyed the performance we felt it didnt close with an ending. The actors were very good but at the end of the performance the stage went dark and the actors disappeared. We were disappointed that the actors didnt come out to make a goodbye appearance.

Next to Normal is a powerful thought provoking musical exposing the raw impact mental health can have on family life, raising the question of what is normal"? The energy and skills of the actors in a clever stage setting provided non stop entertainment in one of the best musicals the Court has produced. This complimented with good service
