I was expecting that the waiting time for me to be able to talk to an IRD employee/representative would take forever, based on the negative reviews, but turns out it didn’t. When I first entered the room, for an appointment (walk-ins are allowed), I was greeted with a polite smile and greeting by both the guards and the woman who would be talking to me. It was such a good experience because they are aware of the flaws of the website but she did everything she can to help me sort out my refund, since I was the one who made a mistake. I think it’s absolutely unfair to blame the employees for doing THEIR job, if you think IRD system could be better, make a petition to the government, don’t lash out your anger on employees who are ONLY doing THEIR jobs!!! Anyways, shoutout to Ms. Pearl, for being such a great person, with very good communication skills, and has the patience to talk me through what I should do and to contact her if there are any more problems. I got my refund back, so I can say with confidence that she helped me a lot. Thanks!

Up and running. One person at a time, but still working well. The woman who helped us understood our situation and helped us immeasurably. Walk-ins are being accepted. Don’t shy away, it’s a working government agency!

At my first try applying for my IRD - Number they don't excepted my multi currency account (wise) as a bank account. So I had to to open an NZ bank account and get there again.

Over the last 2 to 3 weeks have wasted about 4hours trying to contact someone to sort out this year's tax. All that has happened is going around in circles, and being told that there is no one available.if I could have given you less star's I would have. I would like to speak to a human to get some peace of mind. As my bank balance would appreciate a top up.

Hey guys. Don't you think you guys need a well-organized queueing system? I waited for almost half an hour to get a form for tax refund and another half an hour to get informed of what to do next. The old man was kind but he said that he would call me in a few minutes when he gave me a form. And then what? He seemed to totally forget me being waiting for his call. While he was receiving another new comer, I was waiting... I am pretty sure it is not only me that don't know what to do when they enter the building.

As someone new to New Zealand, I found IRD Takapuna office very supportive, helpful, and friendly. Come early to avoid crowd. They open 9 am sharp. If you come early, you'll have to wait outside. There's a cafe next to IRD, might be useful while waiting. This 5 star is not for phone based IRD as it is not so much helpful, was answered by machine. Thank you IRD!

Walked in and got my IRD application sorted in a few minutes. Staff very helpful

I came here for IRD for me and my wife. The lady at the desk helped us and the process went extremely quickly and smoothly.
