Michael's Bakery - Hillmorton

Best pies I've had, and some yummy Desserts.

Food was average, not bad though. Staff do not seem to care much for being there. Zero welcome or smile, seem really disinterested altogether?

Have been wanting to try this bakery for awhile as I have heard it being advertised on the radio quite a lot. Huge disappointment. I had a vegetarian pie was very average mostly potato top couldn't tell what veges were in it. Apple slice was nice but very small. Staff were appalling. No good morning, no smile and very rude to other staff members. Won't be going back

Best bakery i have been to in Christchurch. I didn't tried a pie so can't say something to the other critics where the pies are declared as overvalued but the sweets are definitely worth their price. The custardtwist was the best pastry I have ever tried in New Zealand, it was so good I immediately had to go back after finishing it. The second item of my choice was the cinnamon brioche bun which was also fantastic. Both cost 3,50 $ but even for 5 $ I would buy them again. Some people wrote in their comments they experienced unfriendly stuff.. which I fortunately can't accord with. Everybody can have a bad day (so does also the stuff in the hilmorton bakery may has) but my day was brighten up by their food.

Noticed the name changed, it used to be called Hilmorton Bakery, now it’s Michael’s. And it tasted different too, the back of house have changed too, it used to be a bakery, I think they are selling heated pies now, lost the taste of freshly baked gourmet pies. Sad, it was the best pie shop in my memory since I went to Hilmorton high.Also, the elder lady in the shop wasn’t so friendly to customers. Disappointed to say, but I won’t revisit it again. It’s a good memory lost.

I didn't think anywhere in Christchurch was close to the Copenhagen Bakery out on Harewood road, but Michael's is representing this side of town hard. 10/10

Most over rated bakery in CHCH pies are just full of gravy and no meat bad value for money. Coffee is fine and customer service is good
