This is a nice park to explore and a great way to see the area's geothermal activity for free.  The boardwalk across water was closed when we visited in December.

We had a nice time here. This is a large geothermal park in the middle of the city. There were many areas of boiling mud and hot pools of water, the steam wafting up like I was in the clouds. It has a hot pool area where you can soak your feet. Large car park next to the playground area for children.Free visit. No dogs

Kuirau Park is such a lovely place to have a picnic, go for a bike ride, take the kids to the playground or just go for a stroll. The smell of the sulphur smells so great and the steam coming from the mud pools is so cool and gives a mystical feeling. The family always has a great time and the Saturday markets and the book sales are such a neat idea!
