What an utter disgrace this 'Council' is! Am I the only person sick to death with the diatribe of lies that comes out of the mouths of this so-called 'Council'. They advertise an already massive 9.1% average rates increase across Taupo, and what do you know, my rates for 2023/24 have gone up by 19.1% !!!! Its disgusting!!!! For the last three years its been the same ... low 'average' increases advertised of 3% or 4%, but the reality is my rates go up by 11% and 12%. Its a total con! Stop wasting money on traffic lights, roundabouts and pedestrian areas; and stop lying to the people who pay the bills!

Don't visit tapou, full of parking traps 60min parking in a eattery area who goes to lunch for less than an HR won't return to this town again say goodbye to our money you greedy mob

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They apologized for the wait, even though I had only been there a few minutes.

Who redesigned the roading & parking in town? What a shocking mess up! Traffic queues like you wouldn’t believe, all because of someone’s incompetence. Instead of paying big money to “professionals”, why not ask the locals who really know the place, to come up with an efficient design? I’m sure they would do a better job.

Fast response by staff. However, their decision from 15 December 2021 to go further than current government guidelines and ban all over 12s who haven't got a vaccine passport from all public services such as the library and swimming pools until further notice is shocking. Should have been zero out of 5.

Having moved to Taupo in the recent months and starting my own business - Taupo district council and the team working there have been very helpful, understanding and thorough with opening up the right doors to the right people to get me where I am today! They have given me the correct guidance and if there was anything that I did not quite understand they were happy enough to explain and show me the right way. Thank you Taupo District Council

Never experienced such bad service, Purchased a property where a deck has been extended without consent, decided to do the write thing and find out what was required, a COA I was told, $1455 of fees spend so far, then to be told also need resource consent why, because even though the council records say the property is only 120sq it turns out these records are wrong and its 160sq, at least another $1000 wanted and written permission from neighbors, permission supplied but no, now need a form to be filled out by the neighbors, building inspection done today which failed even though a previous council employee looked at the deck and mentioning nothing about more piles required, even though saying it was a good job, and yes now also need building consent, More application fees. All for a small deck extension. Its not so Much the money but the continuing changing of the goal posts and each department has a different story. Taking it further

Love alot of things the council do but for goodness sake get rid of the traffic lights and put roundabouts in. Roundabouts regulate traffic and allow it to flow. Traffic lights cause lines of traffic that just cause congestion, backlogs and driver frustration.
