Cowans Hill Walkway
We did this on our bikes and it was quite tough for younger ones on their bikes. A couple of uphill climbs and some with loose gravel/rocks. We started the track near the bridge on the state highway. The views are brilliant and there’s a nice rest point at the lions seat. The track from the lions seat is mostly downhill to the main state highway. There is a short part of this track which involves cycling on the road so just be mindful with younger kids.

Ian Wells Track, Piha
I visited 8 months ago on a rainy Waitakere day but that didn't dampen(pun intended) what there was to see an easy 5-10 minute walk if you don't things to photograph on the way like the spider webs we found absolutely awesome highly recommended before tackling the Dam walk which I'll be doing in 2023

Charming Creek Walkway
Sadly a large section is shut right now, about 1km from the Southern entrance, due to large rockfalls. Check the DoC website for current conditions. We did walk from the other end of the trail, up to the suspension bridge where the trail is closed again. That was a 3-4 hour walk making the drive along the gravel track worth the effort.

Aorere Goldfields
An awesome spot for some free caves. The first one is well worth it and my wife and I spent over an hour exploring it! It was a solid 45 minute hike to them.Warning: Make sure to bring a headlamp, good boots and a buddy!
