Passable but kind of boring museum and gallery with small and infrequently updated displays. Only worth going to once if that. There is a small cinema in the back that shows films two weeks after every other cinema. Better to go to Clyde to see movies.

Totally worth a visit and an amazing stop that was totally unexpected. The displays were informative, but the best thing was simply to speak to the passionate staff who were engaging, knowledgeable & friendly.Amazing place to learn about the history and valuable finds many of which were found in the locality. It boggles the mind to think about the geological history of the region!Thank you.

Very Small museum can finish in less than 30 mins.Lots of rocks and fossils to look at and also a chance for the kids to dig for fossils.$20 for a family. $10 per person.

It is sad that because is run by volunteers, the timings are not necessary accurate. We had driven a Little more than an hour. We knew that we wouldn't have much time to see but when we arrived the person in charge was closing. I asked him if it was possible for the kids to take a fast look around and he said that no body have come all day and he was ready to go go I told him that the time in the website said that it closes at 5pm and he said that he didn't give Care what it said. That he was ready to go home. So we couldn't see the place.

Amazing museum, really informative and interesting. We wouldn’t have stopped in Alexandra except the museum caught our eye on the way past. Oddly the information centre is in a nearby pharmacy so instead got some local insights from the helpful museum staff!!

Some of the most amazing scenery and tracks around. Accommodation is basic but has everything you need including lovely hot showers. Make sure you get a look at the museum too.

Te Kauri Lodge
Nestled in the bush, Te Kauri Lodge was the perfect location for our Whanau reunion. 30+ of us fit very comfortably, with numerous separate rooms for those who can't sleep in the bunks. The kitchen was a favorite, well set up for cooking for large groups. We dined indoors and out. The facilities seem old, but are well maintained and our host was fabulous. The location was perfect, with Kawhia, Kawhia hot water beach nearby, and Raglan only 45 minutes away. We'd love to come back

Reminded me of childhood memories in Fiordland. School trips to Borland Lodge. Open fire in lounge, bunk room for children or big groups and also smaller rooms for those who require privacy (those that snore maybe).

Best art museum in the south land. They change shows every 6 weeks. Art lovers must go!

A well presented museum with an interesting history of the district, well worth taking the time to visit
